Given the diverse group of learners comes a diverse set of teaching strategies that will lead to a satisfying instructional satisfaction.

The Section of Anatomy seeks to educate this generation of learners with a variety of learning tools including an integration of Body Map, Cadaveric Dissection, Anatomage and Plastinated Cadavers.

This enhances the students’ understanding on basic and clinical anatomy with an efficient use of laboratory time.

The classrooms modified as team-based learning centers are highly considered as learning spaces for face-to-face interaction between students and teachers..

As learning come in different ways, several teaching methods are adapted which includes lecture-based formats, team- based learning, problem based learning and small group discussions.

Such methods run through the spectrum of student involvement which increases both student understanding and learning experiences.

A combination of techniques are employed by all educators to facilitate learning process more effectively and efficiently.

The Objective Structured Clinical Examination and Standardized Patient Program are evaluative tools of students’ performance in a given clinical setting.

Integrated in the senior year curriculum, students perform a variety of tasks within a specified time period against a certain set of criteria.
 

This strategy allows for an objective and precise student assessment of knowledge, skills and attitudes for a wide range of clinical scenarios.

The Simulation Center provides a safe environment for the training of students’ clinical, technical and interpersonal skills.

This learning strategy bridges the gap between classroom learning and real-life clinical experience, Students are given hands-on encounters in the absence of putting actual patients at risk.
 

It further provides an assessment of the students’ levels of competence as well as feedback from faculty preceptors. Students are able to master their skills by learning from their mistakes from a protected environment.
 

This state-of-the-art facility provides several types of simulation including standardized patients, task trainers, virtual reality and human patient simulation.

The use of mobile clinics in the medical curriculum provides a meaningful experience for students to assimilate classroom learning and clinical operations.

This is regarded as a valuable teaching-learning tool for clinical and community skills. As a community-based platform, this creates ongoing partnerships between the academe and the community towards healthy Filipino communities enjoying quality lives.

Research is built in the fabric of the curriculum.

With the aim of providing optimal solutions to important medical questions and problems, research work leads to the provision of patient care at its best.

Following the steps of the scientific methods, students as well as faculty members continue to provide relevant outputs as part of their training and continuing medical education.

A variety of research areas are being done including but not limited to physiology, pharmacology and community medicine. Networking and collaborative studies involve drug development, infectious diseases, forensic sciences and genomics.

Excellence In Community Service

Guided by the principles of community oriented primary care, community medicine holds an integral part of the medical curriculum.

Strengthened with community diagnosis and research outputs, the college had its share of leading the people towards a community-based.

This is regarded as the highest and the most liberating model of primary health care the ultimate goal of community medicine.
